I am Assistant Professor at Université de Toulouse since 2007, with HDR in 2018. My research work at Laboratoire d’Aérologie deals with the science of atmospheric chemistry and physics, more specifically on tropospheric composition of reactive trace gases (O3, CO, NOx, HCHO) in the Tropics, using both in situ (IAGOS aircraft) and remote sensing (IASI, OMI, TROMOPI) measurements, with chemistry and transport modeling (GEOS-Chem, FLEXPART, SOFT-IO, SOFT-IO-Li), to better understand the natural and anthropogenic drivers of the distributions, the budget and trends of the gazes, and their impacts. I do most of my teaching at the University of Toulouse, FSI, Department of Physics.

Research

Pendant mon doctorat au Laboratoire d’Aérologie (France), j’ai participé à la préparation de la campagne internationale AMMA, en analysant les mesures in situ des avions au-dessus de l’Afrique, afin de mieux comprendre l’influence de la combustion de la biomasse sur les distributions d’ozone et de monoxyde de carbone dans la troposphère.

Pendant mon post-doctorat au Canada (2005-2007), j’ai participé à l’extraction de données par satellite (GOME et OMI) dans le cadre d’un projet de la NASA, à l’université d’Halifax (Canada), afin de fournir des inventaires “top-down” des émissions dues à la combustion de la biomasse, des émissions de NOx des sols et des émissions de NOx dues à la foudre. J’ai également développé une paramétrisation des émissions de NOx provenant des éclairs dans le modèle chimie transport GEOS-Chem, par une contrainte de la position des éclairs observée par satellite. Enfin, j’ai établi le bilan de l’O3 sous les tropiques à l’aide du modèle GEOS-Chem.

During my PhD in Laboratoire d’Aérologie (France) I have been involved in the international AMMA campaign preparation, through analysis of in situ aircraft measurements over Africa, to better understand the influence of biomass burning on tropospheric ozone and carbon monoxide distributions.

During my Post-Doc in Canada (2005-2007), I have been involved in satellite retrievals (GOME and OMI) through NASA project, in Halifax University (Canada), to provide top-down emission inventories of biomass burning, soils NOx and lightning-NOx emissions. I have also developed a parameterization of NOx emissions from lightning in the GEOS-Chem global chemistry transport model, based on the constraint of lightning position observed by satellite. Finally I established O3 budget over the Tropics using the GEOS-Chem model

Responsibilities

Depuis 2007, je suis responsable scientifique dans l’infrastructure de recherche européenne IAGOS (In-service Aircraft for a Global Observing System) – France, et responsable du développement de produits à valeur ajoutée et des services pour les utilisateurs de la base de données IAGOS (interpolation de l’analyse ECMWF, développement du modèle SOFT-IO pour quantifier l’origine du CO observé et du modèle SOFT-IO-Li pour déterminer l’origine de la foudre sur les mesures de NOx).

Depuis 2016, je participe au groupe international du rapport d’évaluation de l’ozone troposphérique (TOAR, IGAC) sur une meilleure compréhension de l’ozone troposphérique, et depuis 2021, je suis co-PI du groupe de travail sur l’ozone et précurseurs au-dessus des tropiques (OPT) du TOAR-2.

Plus récemment, je suis PI du projet TROPICS à Toulouse pour tester des capteurs à faible coût dans des environnements tropicaux, notamment par le biais d une MLD IRD au Brésil.

J’ai également participé ou géré divers projets nationaux, européens et internationaux (NASA, ESA-CCI, ENVRI-FAIR, OBS4CLIM, Ciencia sem Fronteiras).

Since 2007 I am responsible of the science in the European Research Infrastructure IAGOS (In-service Aircraft for a Global Observing System)-France and of the development of added-value products in the IAGOS database (interpolation of ECMWF analysis, development of the SOFT-IO model to quantify the origin of the observed CO and of the SOFT-IO-Li model to determine the lightning origin on the NOx measurements)

Since 2016 I participate to the Tropospheric Ozone Assessment Report (TOAR, IGAC) international group on tropospheric ozone better understanding, and since 2021 I am co-PI of the Ozone and Precursors over the Tropics (OPT) working group the TOAR-2

More recently, I am PI of the TROPICS project in Toulouse to test low cost sensors in tropical environments, notably through an IRD MLD in Brazil.

I have also participated in or managed various national, european and international projects (NASA, ESA-CCI, ENVRI-FAIR, OBS4CLIM, Ciencia sem Fronteiras)
